New Jersey Tobacco Use Research Program

United States

The Tobacco Surveillance and Evaluation Research Program (TSERP), based in the School of Public Health, was first developed in 2000 to conduct a baseline assessment of tobacco use for the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS).

TSERP is now designated as the independent evaluator of New Jersey's Comprehensive Tobacco Control Program (CTCP) and is responsible for monitoring tobacco use trends over time in response to tobacco control activities. Based on CDC's Best Practices, TSERP conducts repeated statewide surveys and secondary data analysis to perform a comprehensive evaluation.

The aim of TSERP is to conduct research on tobacco use behavior and provide useful feedback related to program implementation and effectiveness.
